About
The Immigration Legal & Advancement Program’s Study Abroad Program for the summer 2025 is aimed for DACA recipients who are eligible and have secured Advanced Parole travel authorization for education purposes. Our Summer Session is a program that promotes cultural diversity and identity exploration through academic lectures, and hands on experiences.
This year, individuals will travel on their own for their self-study projects to locations of their choosing (to be discussed with directors) within Mexico. Seminars, and sessions, etc, will be in the U.S.
Dreamers will have the opportunity to learn of the political, educational and linguistics systems through this educational program. The program will consist of the following:
- “US Immigration law: Policies, Perspectives, and language, an overview” Seminar by Immigration Attorney, Belen Gomez.
- An Anthropological seminar on The Dream Movement: Impact and Critiques, By Undocuscholars, LLC.
- Workshops/ group sessions with a clinical therapist for identity exploration and learn healthy coping mechanisms.
- Independent Studies assignment. Topics/ venue will be discussed with program directors.
This program offers an enriching bled of lectures, and the opportunity for immersive cultural experiences designed to promote cultural diversity, a reconnecting with ones roots, and a deeper exploration of the immigrant experience.
Program cost:
$2500 *fees are nonrefundable
Payment of $1500 due on 1/20/25, and $1000 due 2/20/25
Program will Include:
1. Educational Courses, Self-study Project Discussions
2. Group Therapy Consultation Sessions
3. Advanced Parole consultation and application preparation by Immigration attorney ($630 USCIS fee not included)
4. Travel Preparation meetings with attorney and organizers.
5. Community Forum with other participants
Now Accepting Applications for Summer 2025:
Jan. 15, 2025 deadline
2. Fill out Attorney intake form (emailed to selected applicants). An immigration attorney will review eligibility for the travel document, Advanced parole.
3. Accepted applicants must pay a deposit by deadline for registration into the program.
4. Registered participants will have the USCIS application prepared by an experienced immigration attorney. The $630 USCIS fee is your responsibility. Registered participants must also obtain a valid passport from their countries consulate, (and a visa for citizens of certain countries), prior to program date.
5. Study Abroad and travel orientation meeting, and sessions.
